Young Turkmen chess players once again pleased with silver and bronze medals at the 17th Asian Chess Championship among schoolchildren held in Tashkent, where the tournament with classical time regulations ended.

Myahri Agamuradova, competing in the girls' age category under 13 (G13), shared the first three places with her peers from Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan with 6.5 points out of 9 possible. The winner was determined by personal meetings, and Mudalighe Umandi from Sri Lanka was in first place, beating both competitors. Myahri took second place, as she, in turn, was able to defeat Sevinch Davlatova from Uzbekistan during the tournament.

17-year-old Lala Shokhradova, who won silver on July 14 in the rapid competition, this time with 6 points in 9 games in the G17 category, was on the third line of the tournament table, losing to the winner Guldona Karimova (Uzbekistan, 7 points) and Begimai Zhanybekova (Kyrgyzstan, 6.5 points).

Myahri is a student of the coach-teacher Oguljan Reimova at the sports school No. 13 in Turkmenabat. And Lala, who studies at secondary school No. 31 in the Denevsky district of the Lebap region, is a pupil of Gulkhan Kurbandurdiyeva.

It should also be noted that until the last round, Amanmuhammet Khommadov (U17) also kept his chances for a medal, who in the final game even beat one of the leaders of the tournament Ulziihishig Khishigbat from Mongolia, but in the end, having lost the victory, he ended up in 6th place with 5, 5 points out of 9 possible. The Russian Alexander Khripachenko was the winner with 7.5 points, and the Mongolian came second. Recall that in the "rapid" on July 14, Amanmuhammet became the bronze medalist, letting the same opponents go ahead.

Also, Aya Bayramova finished in 6th place with 6 points out of 9 in the category of girls under 9 years old, and Gulmira Seyilkhanova, who was the sole leader after 4 rounds with a 100% result in the category of girls under 15 years old, apparently unable to cope with the stress, " sat down" in the middle of the tournament distance and eventually finished in 8th place with 5.5 points out of 9.

In a tournament with classical regulations, each player was given 90 minutes for the entire game, with an addition of 30 seconds for each move. "Classic" remains the most prestigious type of chess, and such official chess titles as "grandmaster" or "international master" are awarded only according to the results of this type. The Asian Championship will end on July 20 with a blitz (blitz chess) tournament. We hope that our young chess players will please us with medals again.

In total, 330 chess players from 17 countries of Asia and the Australian continent participate in the championship, including such chess powers as India, China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Russia.
