Portrait of Viktor Tsoi on a commemorative three-ruble coin
The Bank of Russia has issued a three-ruble silver coin with a portrait of the leader of the Kino group Viktor Tsoi. The singer is called "the idol of his time", whose songs "became a symbol of the era of perestroika," writes RBC, quoting the message of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
Viktor Tsoi is depicted on the coin with a microphone in his hand against the background of a "guitar with symbolic flames". Contrary to the fan statement "Choi is alive!", the year of the singer's death in a car accident is also indicated on the coin — 1990.
The 925-grade alloy coin contains 31.1 grams of silver and is made in a circulation of 5000 pieces. It has a nominal value of three rubles and is a legal means of cash payment on the territory of the Russian Federation and is required to be accepted at face value in all types of payments without restrictions," the Central Bank said in a press release.
