Paris 2024 aims to strengthen the socio-economic impact of sports
As preparations for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are well underway, organizers are making every effort to use the opportunities of the competition to promote economic development, reduce inequality and promote employment.
Employment is a priority of the Paris 2024 Games. To develop its employment strategy, the organizing committee of the competition involved trade unions, recruiters, representatives of government agencies, specialists in the field of tourism, catering.
In 2018, for the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, a Social Charter was agreed with trade unions and employers. Its goal is to use the Games as a springboard of opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises, the unemployed and vulnerable segments of society.
As part of the Charter's implementation, a special web platform (EMPLOYE 2024) was created, which lists all available vacancies related to Games. The online resource also provides access to the necessary training.
"The vision of the organizers of the 2024 Olympic Games to use the power of sport to create socio-economic opportunities for all is already bearing fruit more than a year before the start of the Games," said Marie Salois, Director of the International Olympic Committee for Sustainable Development.
With the support of the state, a charitable foundation for social innovation Impact 2024 was created. The Foundation supports projects that use sports to promote health, well-being, inclusivity and environmental improvement.
Since 2020, over 1,000 projects have received funding in the amount of 38.7 million euros.
