Turkmen-Tajik consultations were held by the foreign ministers of the two countries


The topic of strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields prevailed at the inter-ministerial consultations held in Ashgabat on Saturday. The talks were held by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the head of the Tajik Foreign Ministry Sirodjiddin Mukhriddin, who headed the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan, who arrived in the Turkmen capital.
As reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the ministers confirmed that the attention paid to the further strengthening of long-standing ties between the two states, based on the principles of friendship, mutual trust and mutual understanding, contribute to the strengthening and expansion of Turkmen-Tajik relations. It was noted that a special place in this process is occupied by high-level visits, which was the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Dushanbe in May this year.
The participants of the meeting confirmed the effectiveness of the partnership between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan both in the bilateral format and consistent interaction on global and regional issues within the framework of multilateral diplomacy, in particular, within the framework of the United Nations.
Touching upon the topic of economic relations, the Turkmen side noted the important role of trade and economic relations between the two countries, which are expanding every year thanks to the activities of the Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, scientific and Technical cooperation. For Turkmenistan, fraternal Tajikistan is one of the most significant foreign economic partners, it was noted at the talks.
The interlocutors also noted the intensification of cultural and humanitarian cooperation and confirmed the need for further development of cooperation through cultural and creative exchanges, education, science and sports.
