Turkmenistan to take part in Bishkek Short Film Festival


International Short Film Festival of the CIS, Baltic and Georgia starts on July 18 in Bishkek. The Film Forum includes two competitive programs – international and national, in each of which there are genres such as - fiction, documentary, animation and experimental films, Kabar reports.
15 films take part in the international program - one film from each country - Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Estonia, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Moldova. 15 Kyrgyz short feature films are being selected for the national program.
This year the film forum is dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Chingiz Aitmatov, the jury of the Kyrgyz festival received over 600 applications from cinematographers from participating countries. The films will be shown at the Manas Cinema from July 18-22.
The Film Festival was founded in 2010 by public figure, director and producer Sadiq Sher-Niyaz. Over the years of its existence, the festival has become an important platform for demonstrating new creative achievements, exchanging ideas and experiences, discussing opportunities and joint projects of cinematographers from the Commonwealth, Baltic States and Georgia.
The event is supported by the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS member states, the Department of Cinematography of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan, Kyrgyz public organizations "Cultural Cooperation Foundation" and "Aitysh Foundation".
