A reliable communication protocol for the smart city network has been developed

Scientists from the North Caucasus Federal University and the Institute of System Programming of the Russian Academy of Sciences in cooperation with colleagues from Korea, Mexico and Uruguay have developed a reliable communication protocol for the smart city network.
The developed protocol increases the resistance of the sensor network to various types of attacks, including illegal interception, falsification of messages, failures in connecting nodes and the network, as well as loss of information in the event of attacks. In addition, it optimizes resources for creating and maintaining a smart city.
According to scientists, a smart city must meet the following requirements: fast connection, reliability and data security.
The protocol is based on a modification of the routing of the MANET network (Mobile Ad hoc Networks). In such a network, each node participates in routing by transmitting data to other nodes, which allows devices to create networks and quickly connect to them, exchange information.
Initially, MANET was designed for low-power networks, for example, for communication during rescue operations, so that people could quickly exchange short messages.
In the future, the research team intends to work on improving the created protocol.
