The Academy of the World Tourism Organization will open in Samarkand and the 25th anniversary session of the UNWTO General Assembly will take place


These topics became one of the main ones during the meeting between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili. The parties discussed the preparation and holding of the 25th anniversary session of the UNWTO General Assembly in Samarkand. The international forum will be held in the Uzbek city on October 16-20, the press service of the Presidential administration of Uzbekistan said.
Within the framework of cooperation, it is also planned to carry out a set of joint activities in the field of international image promotion, in the field of education and training of highly qualified personnel. In continuation of this topic, the interlocutors considered the possibility of creating an UNWTO thematic office and an International Academy in Samarkand, where they will train specialists in the field of tourism, taking into account international experience and best foreign practices.
In addition, they discussed the expansion of practical cooperation and attracting leading investors to the country, as well as the largest foreign companies and brands to implement projects to create a modern and comfortable tourist infrastructure in the republic.
The World Tourism Organization is a specialized intergovernmental agency of the UN system, uniting 158 participating countries, 6 associated territories, two territories with observer status and more than 500 affiliated organizations. The supreme governing body of UNWTO is the biennial General Assembly.
