Heads of foreign diplomatic missions made a study tour to the penitentiary institution of Turkmenistan

The next visit to the penitentiary institution, located in the Akhal region, was organized on Saturday at the request of a number of diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan, being an active participant in the Conventions in the field of human rights, fully ensures their practical implementation in national legislation and activities of the relevant state bodies, and also expands international partnerships in this area. In particular, the country has adopted legal acts aimed at regulating relations in the humanitarian dimension.
Along with the improvement of the legal framework, strong mechanisms of interaction have been created at the national and international levels, ensuring joint and well-coordinated activities of the Government of Turkmenistan and international humanitarian organizations. One of the important aspects of this partnership is the improvement of the penitentiary system, the exchange of experience, the practical implementation of the norms of international humanitarian law, the report says.
Evidence of the effectiveness of such interaction, in particular, is the fact-finding visits regularly organized by the Turkmen side to the correctional labor institutions of the country for representatives of international organizations and foreign diplomatic missions.
