China became the first country to develop rules for regulating the work of generative AI

China's regulatory authorities have developed a set of rules that will regulate the work of generative artificial intelligence, Xinhua reports. This is the first such set of rules in the world.
The document will come into force on August 15 and will apply to generative AI services that are available to the general public. Before launching such services in China, developers will have to obtain the appropriate license.
The full list of rules was published on Thursday on the website of the State Chancellery of Internet Information of the People's Republic of China. The ministry emphasizes that the rules are designed to promote the healthy development and regulatory use of generative artificial intelligence, protect national security and public interests, as well as defend the legitimate rights and interests of citizens, legal entities and other organizations.
According to the new rules, China will encourage the innovative use of generative artificial intelligence in various fields and directions, as well as support industrial organizations, companies, educational and scientific institutions and other relevant institutions in cooperation in this field.
