Astana considers key areas of cooperation in Asia and with Asia

During the first day of the Central Asian Forum on Security and Cooperation, which opened on July 13 in Astana, experts considered ways to strengthen cooperation during unprecedented geopolitical tensions, climate change and the water crisis, as well as efforts to combat terrorism, reforms of international institutions.

The session outlined the urgent task facing the international community in building bridges and finding common ground to solve the most difficult situations in a rapidly changing geopolitical environment.

The Central Asian Forum on Security and Cooperation brought together prominent thinkers and political scientists from the world's leading research centers from 25 countries. The event is attended by more than 60 international speakers, including from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, the USA and Uzbekistan.

Among the invited speakers at the forum are UN Deputy Secretary General, Head of the Counter-Terrorism Directorate Vladimir Voronkov, EU Special Representative for Central Asia Teri Hakala, Vice President of the National Institute of Political Studies of Japan Shige Michishita, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, President of the Institute of Political and International Studies of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Muhammad Hassan Sheikh Al Islami, Professor of Public Policy at Georgetown University University in Qatar Mehran Kamrava and others.
