ESCAP will take part in the event of the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan within the framework of the High-level Political Forum


UN Deputy Secretary-General, Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Armida Salsia Alishakhbana confirmed her participation in a parallel event to be held by the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN on July 17 within the framework of the High-level Political Forum.
This was announced by Armida Salsia Alishakhbana during a meeting with the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Aksoltan Atayeva, the official website of the permanent missions reports.
The theme of the event under the auspices of ESCAP is "Sustainable urban Transport: Preparation for the High—level Meeting of the UN General Assembly on Sustainable Transport and the Arkadag City Model for the implementation of SDG 11".
The parties discussed Turkmenistan's cooperation with ESCAP, including within the framework of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA). Special emphasis was placed during the meeting on the issues of expanding partnership in the field of sustainable transport, energy mobility and interconnectedness, expanding trade and economic ties in the Asia-Pacific region.
In turn, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN, Aksoltan Atayeva, expressed gratitude to the ESCAP leadership and secretariat for their support in the process of adopting the Commission's resolution on the establishment of a Special UN Program for the Aral Sea Basin, which was presented by Turkmenistan at the 79th session in May this year.
