Turkmenistan participates in the "Cybersecurity 9/12 Central Asia" contest
Interdisciplinary Cyber Contest - first edition of The Cyber 9/12 strategy event, developed specifically for students of universities in Central Asia and the South Caucasus, takes place on July 11-12 in Uzbekistan. The participants were student teams representing academic institutions of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The event is hosted by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, the Atlantic Council, the US Department of State and Inha University in Tashkent. The 9/12 Cybersecurity Strategy Challenge aims to identify and nurture the next generation of leaders capable of facing the cybersecurity challenges of the future.
The Cyber 9/12 Strategy Challenge program was founded in 2012 in Washington, DC and provides students with an understanding of cyber strategy and political challenges. For more than 10 years of the project's existence, the competition has expanded to eleven different venues around the world, educating and diversifying the cyber talent community.
"Solving cybersecurity problems is the most important task for protecting both individuals and societies from intruders. We are pleased to see the participation of talented teams from five countries, and we look forward to continuing to work with our academic and government partners from the OSCE and Uzbekistan to create meaningful opportunities for students from across the region to learn and collaborate on current cyberspaces," U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick said in his speech.
To train and develop the next generation of cybersecurity leaders, Cyber 9/12 competitors will take on the role of senior advisers in government, coping with significant cyber incidents affecting the region. The participating students will gain invaluable and realistic learning experience in technical, political and strategic aspects of cybersecurity and will communicate with senior leaders in the field of cybersecurity, according to a press release published on the OSCE website.
