Turkmenistan to expand connections to UNESCO institutes and networks


Turkmenistan will join a number of UNESCO institutes and networks. In order to expand cooperation with the UN agency for education, science and culture, it is planned to intensify the country's participation in its international programs and the work of specialized departments.
Proposals on this topic were voiced by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on Friday.
In particular, we are talking about connecting the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan to the UNESCO Global Youth Network, attracting Turkmen scientific centers to the projects of the International Institute for Central Asian Studies, covering such areas as tangible and intangible cultural heritage, environment, archeology, history, ethnography, written and oral literature, social sciences.

It is also proposed to develop a Roadmap for cooperation between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education.
Next year, in 2024, it is planned to hold an international conference in Ashgabat dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's membership in UNESCO.
Upcoming joint projects and events, including the anniversary conference, were also discussed during the June visit to Ashgabat of Director of the UNESCO Cluster Office in Tehran, UNESCO Representative in Turkmenistan and Iran, Golda El Khoury.
