Japanese airline offers passengers vacation clothing rental

Japan Airlines has launched an experimental clothing rental service for passengers and tourists who fly without luggage. Now travelers can not take suitcases with them, but limit themselves only to personal hygiene items. Such a move will contribute to the promotion of eco-friendly tourism, the carrier said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
As part of a project called Any Wear, visitors to Japan can book things a month before the trip, the rental period of which will be limited to two weeks. Travelers have the right to choose the size of the products, as well as the style and color. The clothes will be delivered to the passenger's hotel before arrival. At the end of the visit, it will be sent to the dry cleaners.
The airline's offer has been in effect since July 5 and will last until August 4, 2024. According to the company's idea, clothing rental at the destination will provide customers with the opportunity to "travel with minimal luggage." The campaign is aimed at foreign tourists and business people in Japan who want to make an "eco-friendly choice". The airline will monitor changes in the weight of checked baggage of passengers and check the effect of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by reducing the weight of the aircraft as a result of using the service," the message says.
