Apple will release fewer augmented reality Headsets than previously planned

Apple has decided to reduce plans for the release of augmented reality headsets Vision Pro from 1 million to 400 thousand units in 2024, writes the Financial Times.
The key reason for the rejection of the production of 600 thousand devices is the high number of defects in the creation of OLED displays. In addition, the company came to the conclusion that the device turned out to be too complicated.
Suppliers of components for Vision Pro told reporters that Apple has significantly reduced purchases. According to analysts, this means that the company will not be able to scale the production of a new device in the near future.
Apple first showed the Vision Pro to the public in June 2023. The headset allows you to immerse yourself in mixed and virtual reality, working on a special visionOS operating system, with which iOS applications must be compatible.
Vision Pro is expected to go on sale in early 2024. The device will cost $3499.
