The UN Security Council will hold a meeting on artificial intelligence for the first time

On July 18, the UN Security Council will hold its first ever meeting on artificial intelligence (AI). This was announced by the Permanent Representative of Great Britain to the UN, Barbara Woodward, at a briefing dedicated to the beginning of the country's presidency in the UN Security Council.
"During our presidency, we will discuss artificial intelligence in the Security Council for the first time. We want to encourage a multi—pronged approach both in managing the huge opportunities and risks that AI brings to all of us," she said.
It is expected that the meeting will be chaired by the head of the British Foreign Ministry, James Cleverley. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and experts in the field of artificial intelligence are also scheduled to speak.
