An international media forum was held in the city of Arkadag

The international media forum dedicated to the city of Arkadag was held today in the library named after Dovletmammed Azadi of the new city, the festive opening ceremony of which took place the day before, on June 29.
Shiri Shiriev, head of the Center for Strategic Studies of the IIR of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, delivered an opening speech to the audience, including representatives of domestic and foreign media, international organizations and other honored guests of the celebrations taking place these days in Turkmenistan.

He noted that the commissioning of the first stage of development of a city of national importance marked a special milestone in the modern history of not only the Turkmen people, since Arkadag is the first "smart" city not only in our country, but also in the Central Asian region, embodying the most progressive trends in the global engineering and urban planning sectors.
And this gives us the full right to call Arkadag the "City of the Future", according to the pattern and model of which it will be necessary to create comfortable cities for life and convenient for work in the new era.
Within the framework of the first stage of construction of the city of Arkadag alone, more than 300 objects of administrative, industrial and cultural infrastructure were erected here. Among the new buildings put into operation are 258 residential buildings, in which more than 40.5 thousand people will live. All living quarters are equipped with "smart home" systems that automate the operation of appliances and allow them to be remotely controlled via the Internet. Much attention is paid to environmental aspects and the introduction of "green" technologies.

And this is not all just the beginning. We all have new discoveries ahead of us. In March of this year, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a resolution ordering the implementation of the second phase of the construction of the city of Arkadag in 2023-2026. At the second stage, it is planned to erect a complex of two-story residential buildings, park areas, lines of modern communication systems, as well as the introduction of software for the electronic transmission of traffic statistics.
The second phase of the construction of the city of Arkadag will also include industrial facilities, it is planned to build industrial complexes for the industrial processing of local raw materials that meet all environmental requirements.

Further, during the session “City of Arkadag - the First Smart City in the Region”, Secretary General of the Association of Engineers and Architects of the Turkic World Ilyas Demirdzhi, Vice-Rector of the Oguzhan University of Engineering and Technology Aimurad Mukhammedov and Specialist of the United Nations Program on Human Settlements (UN-HABITAT) Fundare Salvatore made speeches.
The next session is devoted to environmental culture in the system of innovative urban planning, among foreign speakers of which are Oyunchimeg Amartuvshin, Senior Program Officer for Central Asia at the Global Green Growth Institute, Indervir Singh, Editor-in-Chief of Business Central Asia, and founder and CEO of the Brussels-based Institute and the “Diplomatic World” international magazine Barbara Dietrich.

Another session is devoted to the importance of the city of Arkadag in the developing paradigm of "healthy cities". Director of the Information Center of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan Ogulmakhri Geldyeva, Vice-Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Gulshat Yusupova and Head of the Information Service of the MIR-24 TV channel Irina Flyur made presentations on this topic.
At the end of the media forum, a press approach was held by the speakers, who, in communication with journalists, summed up the key results of the past discussions and identified priority areas for developing cooperation on such an important global track as smart and green cities, using the example of the opportunities that the new city of Arkadag provides in this regard.
