UNESCO celebrated Novruz

On 15 March, UNESCO headquarters in Paris celebrated the international holiday Novruz in a good atmosphere of people-to-people contacts.
The main organizers of the celebration were the delegations of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Iraq, Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Turkey.
The festive event was attended by over 200 participants, including diplomats, politicians, businessmen, artists, representatives of the scientific community and, of course, the representatives of the minorities of those peoples, in whose calendar the Novruz is one of the most favorite holidays.
As noted in his welcoming remarks, Deputy Director-General of UNESCO Getachew Engida, Novruz reflects universal values, such as peace, solidarity, and serves as an example of national identity, transmitted from generation to generation.
The deputy head of the global organization for culture, science and education named Novruz one of the most important holidays for humanity and a vivid example of this is the cooperation between the above ten countries on the UNESCO platform.
The purpose of the reception was to support world diversity and friendship among different national communities. To this end, the guests were served with dastarkhans with national dishes and presented the customs of celebrating Novruz in the host countries.
Thus, the celebration in honor of Novruz in one of the capitals of world culture became another event of cultural heritage popularization of the countries united by this splendid spring holiday of revival.
