The opening ceremony of the Week of Culture of the Turkic States took place in Ashgabat


The opening ceremony of the Week of Culture of the Turkic States, which is held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the formation of the International Organization of Turkic Culture - TURKSOY, took place in Ashgabat.

The Turkmen capital is hosting artists of the Turkic-speaking states these days. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a welcoming address to the participants of the event.

A big concert was held on the stage at the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theater, in which masters of arts and popular ensembles of the TURKSOY participating countries performed.

In the first half of the day, foreign guests who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the Week of Culture of the Turkic States visited the State Museum of Turkmenistan, where they got acquainted with a large-scale exposition telling about the ancient history and rich cultural heritage of the Turkmen people.

The cultural program of the Week will continue with various creative actions, exhibitions, joint performances, musical premieres and other events.

"Ashgabat is of great importance to us as a cultural metropolis," Secretary General TURKSOY Sultanbay Raev told ORIENT. - It is a great honor for the participating countries of this organization to speak here and show the art of the Turkic world.
The festive celebrations, which started in Almaty, continued in Bishkek and Tashkent. After the completion of the Week of Culture of the Turkic States in Ashgabat, the events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of TURKSOY will continue in Baku, Istanbul and Ankara.
"Turkmenistan actively cooperates with us in various fields of culture and we intend to continue to expand this interaction, because culture is a golden bridge between our territories," Raev added.

During the opening ceremony of the Week of Culture of the Turkic States, a video was shown about the history of the creation of TURKSOY and the role of this structure in the preservation, study and dissemination of spiritual values and cultural heritage of the Turkic-speaking peoples in the world.
