The Ministry of Finance discussed the strengthening of economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU


The issues of strengthening economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union became key during the talks of Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Serdar Joraev with the delegation for Central Asia and Mongolia of the European Parliament, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.
During the meeting, it was noted the high potential for the development of cooperation in the field of high-tech production, digitalization and accession of Turkmenistan to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The head of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan called the European Union one of the strategic partners of the country and noted the successful holding of the 21st meeting of the joint committee "Turkmenistan - the European Union" in November 2022.
Head of the delegation, MEP Tomasz Zdechowski noted the European Parliament's interest in cooperation in the energy sector. Particular emphasis was placed on the desire of European companies to invest in the development of "green" technologies.
Serdar Joraev noted that Turkmenistan is focused on the development of hydrogen energy, and therefore there is a potential for establishing cooperation in this direction. In addition, it was emphasized that in Turkmenistan, as well as in Central Asia as a whole, there are good conditions for establishing high-tech industries together with potential European partners.
