The first container train has been sent from the Southern Urals to Saudi Arabia through Turkmenistan


The first container train to Saudi Arabia departed from the Chelyabinsk-Gruzovoy station of the South Ural Railway (SUR). The train follows the international North- South transport corridor through the territories of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran, the press service of the SUR reports.
"The operator of the service is Russian Railways Logistics. Energy equipment and non-ferrous metals were exported in 42 containers of the first train. The train is moving along a specialized schedule thread developed for freight transportation along the route, using accelerated delivery," the message says.
The press service noted that two months ago, a container train was sent to India via the South-South international transport corridor. And from the third quarter of this year, it is planned to send two container trains monthly from the Chelyabinsk Region along the North-South corridor.
