Turkmenistan established diplomatic relations with Trinidad and Tobago


The signing ceremony of the Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago took place on Wednesday, June 21, in New York, at the office of the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN.
The signing was preceded by negotiations between Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Aksoltan Atayeva and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the UN and the elected Chairman of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly Dennis Francis.
The diplomats confirmed their interest in strengthening friendly relations between the two countries and developing bilateral political, economic and cultural cooperation, as well as cooperation in international organizations, according to the website of the Turkmen Permanent Mission to the UN.
The report also says that the parties exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels, as well as discussed issues on the UN agenda that are of interest to Turkmenistan and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, in particular, in such areas as preventive diplomacy and dialogue, peace and security.
During the meeting, Aksoltan Atayeva congratulated Ambassador Dennis Francis on his election as Chairman of the upcoming 78th session of the UN General Assembly, and stressed that his priorities coincide with those of Turkmenistan, and also expressed support and readiness to provide any necessary assistance in their implementation.
