Ayatollah Khamenei presented Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with "Divans of Makhtumkuli Fragi's poems"


A two-volume edition in Farsi "Divans of Makhtumkuli Fragi's Poems" was handed over to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on behalf of the Supreme Spiritual Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

On this occasion, a solemn conference was held at the Magtymguly Fragi Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan on Tuesday with the participation of the academic community, scientists and cultural figures, Turkmen and Iranian diplomats.
The speakers stressed that, thanks to the efforts of the heads of the two states, Turkmenistan and Iran are developing effective cooperation based on centuries-old friendly and fraternal ties, according to a press release from the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan Allaberdy Ashirov noted the importance of the visit of the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan to Iran in May this year. The donated collection "Divans of Makhtumkuli Fragi's Poems" is another confirmation of the strong Turkmen- Iranian interstate relations, a clear evidence of respect and reverence for the rich literary heritage of Turkmenistan, he said.

Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Gholam Abbas Arbab Khales emphasized the importance of cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries, noting the historical commonality of the two peoples, the closeness of spiritual and cultural traditions.
