The UN Counter-Terrorism Committee mission may visit Turkmenistan in 2024


The issues of organizing the visit of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee mission to Turkmenistan in 2024 were discussed during the meeting of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vep Hadjiev with Assistant Secretary General of the UN, Executive Director of the Executive Directorate of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee Natalia German. This is reported by the website of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.
The meeting was held within the framework of the High-level Week on Combating Terrorism in New York.
Natalia German highly appreciated Turkmenistan's commitment to regional peace and security and expressed gratitude for the country's contribution to strengthening cooperation with UN counter-terrorism units.
Khadzhiev also met with the head of the UN Counter-Terrorism Directorate Vladimir Voronkov and discussed with him issues of multilateral partnership between the Organization's member states in the framework of effective fulfillment of obligations in the field of combating international terrorism, extremism and other threats. In particular, the topic of the implementation of the Regional Action Plan for Central Asia for the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy was touched upon.
Speaking at the second session of the main event — the Meeting of the Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies of the UN member states, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan noted the need to strengthen the mechanism of the updated Action Plan for the implementation of the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia and to continue the efforts of the countries of the region within the framework of the Dushanbe process.
