The delegation of the European Parliament is on a visit to Ashgabat


The delegation of the European Parliament, which arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit, held talks with Deputy Foreign Minister Mahri Bashimova.
During the meeting, an overview of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the European Union for today and for the future was made both in the bilateral format and within the framework of the Central Asia-EU dialogue.
The sides exchanged views on the mechanisms of interaction, including through the parliamentary line, noted the successful practice of joint events and cultural exchange, the importance of educational projects and programs, as well as the relevance of the "green" agenda, especially in the field of energy.
As for the multilateral platform "Central Asia-European Union", which regularly hosts meetings of foreign ministers, meetings of the High-level Dialogue on Politics and Security, economic forums, there has been a significant intensification of contacts.
The delegation of the European Parliament stressed the importance of Turkmenistan's international humanitarian initiatives to ensure peace and sustainable development, including the efforts of our country in the process of resolving the situation and restoring world order in Afghanistan, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.
"During the meeting, broad opportunities for cooperation in the field of education, digitalization, energy, transport, ecology, water resources and environmental protection were identified," the Foreign Ministry stressed, adding that the delegates of the European Parliament emphasized the development of gender equality, the increasing role of women and youth in the political life of Turkmenistan.
