The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution to promote a culture of peace


The UN General Assembly adopted an annual resolution on the promotion of a culture of peace, confirming support for Turkmenistan's initiatives to strengthen trust and dialogue at the interstate level.
At the 79th plenary session of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, which was held on June 14, the annual resolution "Measures for the implementation of the Declaration and Programme of Action in the Field of a Culture of Peace", presented by Bangladesh, was adopted.
Taking into account the measures taken by Turkmenistan to promote a culture of peace and dialogue at the interstate level, the resolution emphasizes the importance of the Final Document of the International Conference "Dialogue - a Guarantee of Peace" held in Ashgabat on December 11, 2022, which was previously published as an official document of the UN General Assembly. "In addition, the need for further implementation of the General Assembly resolution 77/32 adopted on the initiative of Turkmenistan on December 6, 2022 on declaring 2023 the International Year of Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace is noted," the information says.
The adopted resolution also underlines the importance of zones of peace and cooperation in Central Asia, the South Atlantic and the Indian Ocean, created on the basis of decisions of the General Assembly and providing a basis for maintaining stability and security in key regions of the planet.
The resolution as a whole emphasizes that all efforts undertaken by the UN system and the international community aimed at promoting conflict prevention, peaceful settlement of disputes, peacekeeping, disarmament, sustainable development, promotion of human dignity and human rights, social integration, democracy, the rule of law, good governance and gender equality at the national and international levels, they make a significant contribution to the formation of a culture of peace.
