The UN Security Council adopted a resolution on combating disinformation and discrimination


The UN Security Council unanimously adopted resolution 2686 on tolerance and the maintenance of international peace and security, TASS reports. It was adopted by all 15 countries of the UN Security Council.
The text of the document emphasizes the commitment of the UN member states to live in peace with each other, confirms the need for international cooperation in solving economic, social, cultural and humanitarian problems.
All 15 countries that are members of the UN Security Council call on international and regional organizations to publicly condemn hate speech caused by discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion and language.
Presenting a report designed to strengthen the integrity of information on digital platforms, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for coordinated actions to make the digital space safer and more inclusive.
The Secretary-General also presented recommendations that could serve as the basis for a Code of Conduct. He called on governments, technology companies and other stakeholders to refrain from using, supporting or amplifying disinformation.
