WHO and the Ministry of Health of Armenia will hold a sub-regional meeting in Yerevan on June 14-15 to share the results of the pilot implementation in Armenia of a new educational module on the immune system and immunization called "Immune Patrol".

The meeting will bring together representatives of national immunization programs, ministries of health and ministries of education of Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as WHO staff, representatives of partner agencies, including the EU.

Immune Patrol is a game-based educational module for students aged 10-12 developed by WHO/Europe. The module was tested in 5 schools in Armenia in December 2022, and more than 500 students have used it so far. Thanks to close cooperation between WHO, the Armenian Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, and with financial support from the EU, the Immune Patrol will soon become part of the country's comprehensive school curriculum, which focuses on promoting a healthy lifestyle.

In addition to learning about Armenia's experience in implementing the module, participants from other countries will be invited to discuss opportunities and develop action plans for including Immune Patrol in their country's school curricula.

This event and pilot presentation is part of a wider EU-funded project “Vaccination Saves Lives” – supporting the introduction of COVID-19 vaccines and strengthening routine vaccination systems in Eastern Partnership countries.
