"Transylvania" in Turkmenistan: folklore ensemble of Romania will perform in Avaza and Ashgabat


The National Folklore Ensemble of Romania "Transylvania" will perform for the first time in Avaza and Ashgabat, the Romanian Embassy in Turkmenistan told ORIENT.
In the national tourist zone "Avaza" the ensemble will perform as part of the international folklore and dance festival "Avaza 2023", which takes place from July 13 to 16.
The Transylvania Ensemble will give a concert in Ashgabat on June 18 at the Watan Concert Hall. It starts at 18:00. Admission is free.
The concert program will introduce the audience to the traditions and distinctive culture of the Transylvania region in Romania.
The performance is organized by the Romanian Embassy in Turkmenistan with the support of the Turkmen Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in honor of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries.
The ensemble "Transylvania" was founded in 1959 and was originally called "Maramures". After some time, covering the entire territory of Transylvania, in 1991 the group changed its name. With 25 choreographic programs in its repertoire, the ensemble has confirmed its importance by winning numerous national and international prizes.
The artists perform in beautiful national costumes, charming the audience with incendiary rhythms and peculiar movements of the Romanian dance.
The team is known not only in Romania, but also outside of their country. The ensemble's performances have been successfully held in Bulgaria, Sweden, Norway, Hungary, Germany, Poland, Spain, Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, China, Korea, Mongolia, the USA and Canada.
