“Margiana” dance group to represent Turkmenistan at the 2018 Culture Capital of the Turkic World

The International Organization of Turkic Culture – TURKSOY – traditionally celebrates Novruz with a festival. This year it will be held in the Turkish city of Kastamonu that was declared as Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2018 by TURKSOY. One of the most ancient cities in Anatolia will host more than 200 participants from different countries. The dance group “Margiana” will present Turkmenistan at festival. “Margiana” is a well-known dance group that pleases its fans for 20 years. Many times winner of the President of Turkmenistan prize, participant of many international festivals, this group became an unofficial symbol of Turkmen culture. They performed successfully in Ankara and St. Petersburg. Now the next stage is Kastamonu.Maya AMANMURADOVA
Valentina Atamuradova, Director of the group, shared her views on upcoming event with ORIENT: “We are looking forward to this festival. We met incredibly talented people in 2015, when Mary was declared as Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2015 and hosted artists from all Turkic-speaking regions! We are very excited and really hope to see old friends and make new ones in Kastamonu! “Margiana” has prepared a varied program, we have something to show.”
The official opening of the festival will be held on March 21, and after the artists-messengers of spring make a tour of the cities of Bolu, Ankara and Istanbul.
