Festive reception on the occasion of Russia Day in Ashgabat: what was said in the solemn speeches
"The true and faithful friend of Russia is always fraternal Turkmenistan. The trusting and warm relations between the Presidents of our countries Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and Serdar Gurbangulyevich Berdimuhamedov serve as a solid foundation for Russian-Turkmen relations of deep strategic partnership," said Russian Ambassador Ivan Volynkin, speaking at a festive reception in Ashgabat on the occasion of Russia Day.
The diplomat stressed that the close ties of our peoples are based on the principles of good neighborliness, equality and mutual respect, and separately noted the invaluable contribution of Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to strengthening the atmosphere of genuine partnership between the two countries, recalling that in November 2022 the national leader of the Turkmen people was awarded the Russian Order of Merit for the Fatherland, symbolizing the highest recognition by the country of his outstanding achievements.
"Friendly relations between our countries contribute to the progressive development of bilateral economic cooperation, both at the state level and among the business communities of our countries, and the cultural and humanitarian agenda is constantly updated with new and non-trivial projects," the ambassador said and expressed deep gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan for the careful attitude and interest in the Russian language.
Ivan Volynkin added that the Russian Federation highly appreciates the neutral status of Turkmenistan, focused on reaching a compromise and developing cooperation between the countries, and cited Magtymguly’s words as a literary illustration: "There is no need for a word either irritated or angry, my people do not accept evil ...".
Deputy Prime Minister Nurmuhamet Amannepesov, speaking at the reception and congratulating the audience and all Russians on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Russia Day, noted that the leaders of Turkmenistan and Russia met six times last year. The most recent summit meeting took place on May 9 this year, when President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Moscow to participate in the celebrations on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Great Victory.
He stressed that for the development of Turkmen-Russian cooperation in all areas, a powerful contractual and legal framework has been created, which consists of more than 300 documents at the governmental and interdepartmental levels. Of particular importance is the Declaration on Deepening Strategic Partnership signed a year ago during the visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted the constructive interaction of the two countries within the framework of international organizations, first of all, the UN, where the countries provide mutual support to each other's initiatives, as well as the active development of inter-parliamentary ties, citing as an example the visit of the head of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in November 2022 to Russia and the visit of the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin to Turkmenistan in January of this year. He also noted the visit of the Chairman of the Russian government Mikhail Mishustin to Ashgabat at the beginning of the year and the Turkmen-Russian business forum held within its framework, adding that Russian companies are successfully working in the Turkmen market in such areas as energy, construction, industry. The big plan is also to build up direct ties between Turkmenistan and the regions of Russia.
"We consider cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere as one of the priority directions," Nurmuhamet Amanepesov said, noting the rich experience of partnership in the field of education in this aspect and stressing that joint work is underway today to create a Turkmen-Russian University in Ashgabat.
