The construction of the first nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan will help Tashkent's plans to generate 30% of all energy from renewable sources. Rosatom will assume responsibility for the implementation of the project, TASS reports.
Negotiations on the construction of the first Uzbek nuclear power plant have been conducted since 2018, at the beginning of this year a master plan of the project was prepared.
At the site of the Second Youth Forum of the CIS and the EAEU, it was announced that the contract will be signed, and Rosatom is ready to carry out the construction of two blocks with a capacity of 1.2 thousand MW in the shortest possible time.
Rosatom is one of the world's largest companies for the design and construction of nuclear energy infrastructure. At the moment, the state corporation is building the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in Turkey.
