Young Turkmen chess players successfully started at the World Championship in Batumi


Young Turkmen champions played the first games at the World Chess Championship in Batumi (Georgia). Twelve of the best chess players of Turkmenistan (6 girls and 6 boys) participate in the age categories from 8 to 18 years. The tournament is held with the rapid time control regulations, i.e. each player is given 15 minutes with 10 seconds for each turn.
After the first game day, two Turkmen chess players immediately go with a 100% result - 3 points out of 3 games. These are Maksat Avlakuliyev (so far without a FIDE rating) in the category up to 8 years and Alihan Batyrov (rapid rating: 1733) in the category up to 10 years. Together with several other chess players, Maksat and Alihan share the first places in the standings among 62 and 68 participants from all over the world, respectively.

The next day, in the 4th round, Alihan will play at the first board with the ranking favorite of the tournament, American Ethan Guo (rapid rating: 2011), and Maksat will fight with the representative of India, Shyan Muhammad, the 5th seed.
It should also be noted the silver medalist of the Asian Rapid Online Championship this year, Amanmuhammet Hommadov (2244), who with 2.5 points out of 3 possible shares 3-4 places among 27 participants in the under-18 category. Tomorrow he will play with Karen Tovmasyan (1832, Armenia).

Among girls and girls, we note Lala Shokhradova (1926), who shares 6-8 places with 2 out of 3 points and is half a point behind the leading group in the under-18 category.
The rapid tournament consists of 11 rounds and will end on June 8. And on June 10 and 11, the world championship with blitz regulations will be held here in Batumi, where each player is allocated 3 minutes with the addition of 2 seconds for each move.
