Representatives of the national mass media of the member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization visited China on a study tour.

The media tour was organized by the SCO Committee on Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation. 20 media representatives visited Urumqi, a city district in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, witnessing its socio-economic development within the framework of the "One Belt— One Road" initiative.

They visited the retail outlets of the district, visited the international port of Urumqi and other production facilities of the district.

"Today Xinjiang is a more prosperous and stable region than ever before, and its success is facilitated by sustainable economic growth," Shi Lei, Deputy head of the Public Relations Department of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, said in his address to the participants of the familiarization tour.
