New forest protection zones will be created in the Dashoguz and Lebap regions of the country as part of the implementation of the National Forest Program to improve the environmental situation in the Aral Sea region.

This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Annageldi Yazmyradov, who oversees the agro-industrial complex, at a meeting of the Turkmen Cabinet on Friday, TDH reports.

Currently, preparatory work is underway to determine the locations of zones and plant species that are supposed to be planted there.

The creation of new forest zones in Turkmenistan is designed to establish an ecological situation to offset the consequences of the Aral crisis, which affects all countries of the Central Asian region.
