Russian students will start studying again in the famous madrasah in Bukhara

After a 32-year break, Russian students are returning to study in Uzbekistan - in
the Mir-Arab Madrasah, which is located in the city of Bukhara. Since Soviet
times, many Muslim religious figures in Russia have been educated in this

The possibility of training Russian students in Mir-Arab was agreed with the Supreme Mufti of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Khaliknazarov. Now in the legendary madrasah there are students from Chuvashia. The young men were trained in the madrasah "Muhammadiya" in Kazan. In Bukhara, they got acquainted with the conditions of training, and passed interviews, - Krganov said.

Mir-Arab Madrasah is an Islamic educational, spiritual-educational and memorial- religious building of the 16th century, located in Bukhara, and was founded during the reign of the Uzbek Shibanid dynasty. It was one of the major religious centers of the Bukhara Khanate. In 1920, the madrasah was closed and opened only in 1946. Until 1989, it remained the only functioning madrasah in the USSR.

The current muftis of Russia, heads of the spiritual administrations of the Russian Federation Talgat Tadzhuddin, Ravil Gainutdin, Ismail Berdiev, Hero of Russia Akhmat Kadyrov and many others, studied in Mir-Arab, Albir Krganov noted.
