Medal “ranking” of Turkmen wrestlers and karatekas at international tournaments

Turkmen athletes won three gold, two silver and one bronze medals at the International Tournament on Turkmen national wrestling in Iran. Competitions in the city of Gonbad-e Kavus of Golestan province brought together wrestlers from Iran, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. The students of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports Agayusup Garayev (74 kg) and Rejepgeldi Klychniyazov (90 kg), as well as student of the Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan Palvan Gurbangeldiyev (82 kg) won gold medals. Silver medals were awarded to Ozodjan Roziyev (74 kg), Arslan Hodjamberdiyev (90 kg), while Ali Meredov, student of the country’s main sports university, was awarded the bronze medal in the 100 kg weight category. Young Turkmen karate sportsmen have achieved good results at the 5th “Arpachay Open” Karate International Tournament held in Baku on January 17-19, 2020. In total, eight medals (1 – gold, 4 – silver and 3 – bronze) replenished the “medal box” of the Turkmen team. Vadim Rudskiy, Nurgeldi Annakurbanov, who competed in the kata discipline, as well as Rovshen Atayev (up to 35 kg) in the kumite category won silver medals. In the kata, Yhlas Annakurbanov and Shamurat Muradov won bronze medals. The only gold medal and another bronze medal the Turkmen wrestlers won in the kumite team event, while another silver medal – in the kata team event. The 5th “Arpachay Open” tournament gathered over a thousand karate sportsmen from 12 countries.
