Turkmenistan will make its debut in Lausanne at the Winter Youth Olympic Games

The 3rd Winter Youth Olympic Games have started in Lausanne, Switzerland, and will last until January 22. This year, about two thousand athletes from 79 countries take part in the Games. This is 40% more than four years ago. 81 sets of medal events will be held in 16 sports – biathlon, cross-country skiing, hockey, Alpine skiing, figure skating, jumping race, short track, speed skating, ski jumping, bobsleigh, skeleton, luge, curling, freestyle, snowboard and ski mountaineering (introduced for the first time). Twelve countries, including Turkmenistan, are participating in the Youth Olympic Games-2020 for the first time. Turkmenistan is represented by hockey player, player of the “Shir” HT Novruz Baihanov. The Olympic Park for athletes will be the campus of the University of Lausanne. And for supporters and sports fans, the organizers have launched the official mobile app “Lausanne 2020”, where you can watch all the competitions and stay updated. The Lausanne-2020 plan aims to empower young people, promote Olympism, and encourage innovative and stable solutions.
