Kabul is considering purchasing oil products from Russian companies and would like to conclude a contract with the Russian oil company “Tatneft”, Afghan Industry and Trade Minister Nuruddin Azizi told Sputnik.

Azizi said on the sidelines of the 14th International Economic Forum “Russia- Islamic World: KazanForum” in the Russian city of Kazan that last year the Afghan authorities held a meeting with Russian oil companies, including those from the Republic of Tatarstan.

According to him, Kabul needs about 4 million tons of oil products, part of which is provided by Turkmenistan and Iran.

At the same time, the minister noted that Kabul would like to reach an agreement on oil imports with Russian companies, especially “Tatneft”, expressing the hope that the parties will remain in contact.

Nuruddin Azizi invited the “Tatneft” company to take part in the development of fields in the country. He addressed the corresponding proposal to the head of the company, Nail Maganov, during a meeting in Kazan, the Afghan ministry said on Twitter. According to the ministry, Maganov expressed his readiness to take practical steps in this direction.

The Taliban delegation took part in KazanForum on the invitation of the head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
