New Russian Ambassador Ivan Volynkin presented copies of credentials to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan


The new Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan, Ivan Volynkin, handed over copies of his credentials to Acting Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiyev on Wednesday.
Hajiyev congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to a high diplomatic post and expressed readiness to provide assistance and support in his activities in his new post.
The diplomats discussed the current agenda of Turkmen-Russian cooperation. The importance of the first official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Russia on June 10, 2022 was emphasized, when a large package of bilateral documents was signed, including a Declaration on deepening strategic partnership.
Productive cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia in the international arena was noted, first of all, in the UN, the CIS, as well as within the framework of the Central Asia–Russia format, the country's Foreign Ministry said.
The diplomats noted the steady growth of bilateral trade and economic cooperation and the important role of the intergovernmental commission in this.
Cooperation with the regions of Russia - the Republic of Tatarstan, St. Petersburg, Astrakhan and Chelyabinsk regions and others - is highlighted as a separate area of active interaction.
The sides also paid attention to cultural and humanitarian cooperation, noting the high level of partnership in the field of education, science and culture.
Ivan Volynkin has been in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation since 1981, held various positions in the central office of the Ministry and abroad (Yugoslavia, USA, Serbia, Georgia, Macedonia, Armenia).
On April 6, 2023, Vladimir Putin appointed him the Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan. Volynkin replaced Alexander Blokhin.
He has the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. Speaks Serbian and English.
