Uzbekistan will allocate over $4 million to host the World Chess Olympiad


The 46th World Chess Olympiad will be held in Samarkand in 2026. Over four million US dollars will be allocated for the event. The corresponding decree was signed by the President of the Republic Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reports UZ.
According to the document, the main tasks of the Organizing Committee will be the preparation of visits of the FIDE leadership delegation to Tashkent and Samarkand, as well as the preparation of the master plan, approval of cost estimates and coordination of the ministries and departments involved in the processes.
On the basis of the estimate, the Ministry of Economy and Finance was instructed to provide in the parameters of the state budget an amount of over 4 million US dollars, which will be used, among other things, to transfer guaranteed funds to FIDE for the Olympics, for the training of domestic chess players and coaches, the rental of supercomputer programs and the production of educational literature.
A number of departments have been instructed to organize on a systematic basis the implementation of a special program "Chess starts from kindergarten", annually hold a "Chess festival" among kindergarten students and introduce an annual three-stage chess competitions "School League", "League of Academic Lyceums", "League of Professional Educational Institutions" and "Student League".
