The relevant committee of the European Parliament in Strasbourg approved the first set of rules for artificial intelligence, which prohibit face recognition by computer networks without the participation of people.

Also, users should know when a chatbot is communicating with them, and not another person.

"These rules provide stricter guarantees that the state and private companies will use AI only for the benefit. We will be able to find out how artificial intelligence is used, for example, by law enforcement agencies or in migration control. While we often do not know whether such systems are involved in this," commented Sarah Chander, representative of the Association of European Digital Rights.

The adoption of a set of similar rules proposed by Brussels in 2021 should be confirmed in June, after which the final text will be agreed by the EU member states. It is expected that the first-ever regulation of artificial intelligence will become a reality by the end of this year.
