Several countries in the world have reported the coldest May days in history. For example, snow and hail fell in the Australian capital Canberra, which made last week the coldest in more than 23 years.

In another Australian city, Sydney, several flights were canceled on Monday due to strong winds and unpredictable weather. A cold snap is expected before the end of the week. On Sunday evening, a temperature of +7.1 degrees was recorded on the hill of the Sydney Observatory, which was the lowest May temperature in the city since 1999.

Italy recorded the coldest May day in the country since 1957 — the temperature dropped to the lowest level in the last 62 years.

In New Delhi, where May was considered quite a hot month, the temperature dropped to +15.8 degrees last week, making it one of the coldest days since 1901.

The Indian city of Chandigarh also recorded the lowest May temperature in more than eight years — +17.3 degrees.
