Turkmen musicians performed at the International Bakhshi Art Festival in Uzbekistan

Musicians from Turkmenistan took part in the III International Bakhshi Art Festival in Gulistan, Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan, along with representatives from over 30 countries.
The head of the Bakhshi Art Department at the Maya Kulieva Turkmen National Conservatory, Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Garyagdy Saryev demonstrated the mastery of Turkmen folk performing arts.
"I have been to many countries of the world, participated in international competitions. I have always dreamed of coming to fraternal Uzbekistan, and now my dream has come true. I saw the beautiful city of Tashkent, then Gulistan, where I have been staying for several days. I feel as free here as I do in my homeland. Language, religion, lifestyle are the same," Saryev shared his impressions in an interview with the UZ agency.
The festival, initiated by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, is aimed at preserving, developing and popularizing the art of bakhshi.
"The significance of the art of bakhshi, which stands at the origins of oral folk art, lies primarily in the fact that it sings the noblest feelings and qualities of a person, revealing his inner world. In these difficult times, it is especially important that the life-affirming sound of these melodies and songs makes it possible to realize that humanity has common roots, and calls on all countries and peoples on earth to live in harmony, friendship and cooperation," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said in a message to the participants of the festival.
The program of the event includes folk festivals, theatrical performances on the square of the Surkhandarya Palace of Arts, exhibitions dedicated to the history of Bakhshi art and much more.
