More than 1.7 million residents of Istanbul on May 7 went to an election rally in support of the current head of state Recep Tayyip Erdogan, TASS reports.

"According to official data that I received, about 1.7 million people are participating in the meeting. If the residents of Istanbul say "yes" to the elections, the issue can be considered resolved," the head of state said, speaking about the upcoming elections.
