Turkmen athletes won eight awards at the Asian Kurash Wrestling Championship


Eight medals — one silver and seven bronze — were won by Turkmen athletes at the Asian Kurash Wrestling Championship, which was held in Hangzhou (China). ORIENT was informed about this by the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan.
Turkmen athlete Ayshirin Geydarova was awarded a silver medal in the 48 kg weight category.
Shamuhammet Kurbanov (up to 60 kg), Shatlyk Jumaniyazov (up to 73 kg), Ishanmyrat Atayev (up to 90 kg), Shatlyk Torayev (up to 100 kg) and Tejen Tejenov (up to 100 kg) climbed to the third step of the podium.
Among women, the bronze medal winners were: Aynur Amanova (up to 52 kg) and Jahan Muhammedova (up to 87 kg).
The Asian Championship in China brought together about a hundred athletes from twenty countries. The tournament became a test competition before the Hangzhou-2023 Asian Games.
