Turkmen boxers have won their first victories at the World Championship in Uzbekistan


Three Turkmen athletes won their first victories at the World Championship held in Tashkent, ensuring their entry into the next stage of the tournament.
Khursand Imankuliyev got the upper hand over Belarusian Dmitry Deshkevich in the first welterweight.
Imankuliyev won by a decision of the judges. In the next stage, the Turkmen boxer will fight against the representative of the Dominican Republic of the Congo, Fiston Mbaya Mulumba.
Bayramdurdy Nurmuhammedov defeated Steve Kulenguluka from DR Congo in the first middleweight.
Nurmuhammedov defeated his opponent by a split decision of the judges. In the next fight, a boxer from Turkmenistan will meet with an athlete from Mauritius, Merven Clare.
Shukur Ovezov defeated the representative of China Zhao Ikun by technical knockout in the lightweight category in the fight of the 1/16 finals. The crushing uppercut of the Turkmen boxer sent the opponent to a knockout.
In the next fight, the Turkmen boxer will fight with the Spaniard Jose Kiles.
The World Championship in the capital of Uzbekistan gathered 300 athletes from 65 countries who will compete for medals in 13 weight categories. The Turkmen side is represented at the World Championship by a delegation of 14 people, including 10 athletes. The tournament will end on May 14.
The prize fund of the championship is 5,200,000 US dollars. Winners will receive $200,000, silver medalists — $100,000, and bronze medalists — $50,000.
