German company proposes to open Turkmen-German university
The advantageous geographic position of Turkmenistan "secured" the country's status as an important transit and transport hub of regional and continental importance. Many experts agree that today trade between Asia and Europe will become the most dynamic market, and those countries that can create cross-border cargo flow will receive the maximum benefit, Azgarhil Mangal, head of the international transport and logistics company MTS (Hamburg, Germany) said at the conference ITTC - 2023 in Ashgabat.
A huge role in the economy of Turkmenistan is played by the existing potential of economic relations with European countries and Germany in particular. Over the past 5 years, exports from Germany to Turkmenistan have increased many times over, as evidenced by statistics: last year, exports amounted to 209 million euros, and imports from Turkmenistan to Germany - 35 million euros. Imports from Europe to Turkmenistan in 2022 were about 634 million euros, exports to Europe - 417 million euros. Such figures were given by the head of the Hamburg company.
In achieving these indicators, a huge role is assigned to transport and transit and logistics infrastructure. Investing in the transport sector is economically feasible and contributes to the creation of new jobs. And the construction of additional transport centers will make Turkmenistan one of the largest logistics hubs in the region. And here it is important to note that investment should not be a "one-way street" - it is necessary to equally use the high-tech potential of Germany and the existing economic resources of Turkmenistan, Azgarhil Mangal continued.
In this regard, the German businessman announced his intention to offer the Turkmen side to open the Turkmen-German University in Ashgabat, as well as the Logistics Research and Production Center, where training will be built on the principle of "theory-practice-production". These educational institutions can become a "forge" of personnel for Turkmenistan. We are talking about the training of international-level specialists in the field of economics, energy, transport and information technology with knowledge of two languages. The new educational structures can also become a platform where round tables, conferences, forums, seminars with the participation of German and Turkmen experts will be held, the head of the MTS company said.
