Turkmenistan initiated the preparation of a resolution in the UN on the International Day of Transport

A resolution of the UN General Assembly on the International Transport Day, proposed by Turkmenistan, is being prepared for adoption. This was announced to the participants of the transport forum in Ashgabat by the Executive Secretary of the International Center for Transport Diplomacy (ICTD) Igor Runov.
"This is our common holiday, so I hope that on November 26 this year we will be able to celebrate it together," he said, adding that he knows about the date because he participated in the preparation of this resolution. According to him, a number of important events on this occasion will also be planned at the UN site in New York.
Turkmenistan has become a leader in transport issues in the UN over the past ten years. According to his proposals, four resolutions of the UN General Assembly on transport were adopted, which for the first time in many decades moved from the category of secondary to the real UN agenda, Igor Runov stressed.

The last three years have been a serious test of the strength of the global transport system, which began with the COVID-19 epidemic, which caused real paralysis in all supply chains.
Moreover, at the moment, there is a clear interest in the transition to digital technologies in this area. Last July, Igor Runov, at the first Ashgabat conference on transport corridors, spoke about a pilot project of a Global Transit Document on a blockchain platform, the inauguration of which took place soon in Avaza.
Today, he told what has changed over the past year in the promotion of this project aimed at informational, technical and financial support of international cargo transportation, and within the framework of which about three hundred shipments have followed confirmed routes since then.

The second stage of the project will be completed in early 2024. By this time, the mechanism created earlier, combining the modified platform and regional relationships, will be supplemented by a system of insurance of customs risks, and in the future – in the third phase – and property risks.
The digital transit network being created is precisely a global project, for the start of which this region has been chosen, Runov noted. It is planned that in the future the platform will cover all types of transport based on blockchain technologies with financial guarantees for all participants - from customs services to the cargo owner.
