Trade facilitation can accelerate the process of Turkmenistan's accession to the WTO

Simplification of international trade procedures and the use of the "single window" mechanism is considered as one of the topical aspects of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the UN Economic Commission for Europe, including taking into account the process of the country's accession to the WTO. This was discussed at the meeting of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myakhri Byashimova with Deputy Executive Secretary of the UNECE Dmitry Maryasin on Tuesday.
Energy, environmental issues, urban planning and the development of smart cities in the context of the creation of the city of Arkadag in Turkmenistan with the introduction of intelligent systems and green technologies were mentioned among other promising areas of partnership, according to information on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The interlocutors also expressed a common opinion on the key role of Turkmenistan in promoting transport diplomacy at the UN site. This role and the country's international initiatives for the development of multimodal transportation are being implemented in practice in projects to modernize the existing and deploy new transport infrastructure on a national and regional scale.
Dmitry Maryasin arrived in Ashgabat to participate on May 3-4 in the work of the forum "International transport and transit corridors: interconnectedness and development-2023".
